What’s cheaper Colorbond or timber?
The cost of timber paling fencing for materials alone is cheaper than a Colorbond fence however if you wish to have a contractor supply and install the fence then the relative cost is very similar, though timber fences are still cheaper. This is because the Colorbond fences require less hours of labour to construct compared to timber paling fences.
Historically timber paling fences were significantly cheaper to supply and install but since covid times with timber costs increasing substantially the relative cost is now very similar.
Therefore, for customers who are undecided which option to go for we generally recommend Colorbond over treated pine fences due to the enhanced durability and low maintenance. When you take these factors into account then the lifetime value of a Colorbond fence outweighs the slightly increased upfront cost incurred.
